NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Hammondsport, NY
has scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 6:00 pm at the
Village Office, 18 Water Street, Hammondsport, NY. The purpose of the hearing
is to obtain citizens’ views and comments relative to the submission of an
application to Empire State Development for financial assistance under the
Restore NY Communities Initiative. This project includes the restoration of the
Curtiss School into rental housing and community space. The following properties
will be submitted for consideration:

 

The Curtiss Building – 15 Bauder Avenue; 30,000 square
feet; vacant residential property; proposed for rehabilitation.

 The public may be personally present at the meeting. All interested parties will be given an
opportunity to be heard at this time and correspondences will be accepted at
the office, PO Box 425, 18 Water Street, Hammondsport, NY 14840.
The information is available for inspection at the Village Office, 18
Water Street, Hammondsport, NY, Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.

NOTICE OF PROPERTY ASSESSMENT
LIST
 

WHEREAS the Village of Hammondsport is eligible for grant
funding under Round 8 of the Restore NY Communities Initiative Municipal Grant
Program, and

WHEREAS the Board of Trustees has
considered proposals that qualify for funding under the program and selected
one project to be included in an application that will be submitted to Empire
State Development Corporation (ESDC) as follows: 

Redevelopment of the Curtiss Building, 15 Bauder Avenue. The
project will renovate a vacant and abandoned building which is prominently
located a short distance from the heart of the historic village square. The approximately
30,000 square foot building, originally built in 1935 as a K-12 school, has
been vacant since 2010. It is anticipated that the Curtiss Building will be
redeveloped into approximately 24 apartments, a mix of studio, 1- and 2-bedroom
units. The building includes a large gymnasium which is anticipated to be used
as a multipurpose community space.

 WHEREAS this project is consistent
with all existing local plans, the proposed financing is appropriate for the
project, the project will facilitate effective and efficient use of existing
and future public resources so as to promote both economic development and
preservation of community resources and the project develops and enhances
infrastructure and/or other facilities in a manner that will attract, create
and sustain employment opportunities in the Village of Hammondsport.

 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that
the Board of Trustees hereby support and will sponsor an application for
Restore NY funding for the Curtiss Building, 15 Bauder Avenue and will
administer the grant in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations
established by ESDC, and

 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Mayor is authorized to sign the applications and any agreements required by
ESDC for grant funding that results from the application.
